My parents were targeted by fraudsters who pretended to be agents of IRDA (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority). They convinced my father that his existing insurance policy was not properly documented and that the benefits would go to someone else. They claimed a new ID needed to be created to secure the policy.
Unfortunately, my father believed them, especially since they had detailed information about the policy ā including premium payment details ā which made them seem legitimate. He was asked to make a payment via a Razorpay link, which he did. The scammers kept him engaged on calls and promised that the documents would be sent within 15 days.
When I confronted the individual afterward, he arrogantly told me to forget about the money. I have filed a complaint with cybercrime, but Iām unsure whether any action will be taken.
