Totally new type of scam to me, and also had no experience of Swedish scammers. If I before paying had read what I have now about investment scams, it would never have happened. Everything went according to the investment scam description everywhere. It took me a couple of days to see through it, but looking back now when I know… I’m ashamed it took me more than 5 minutes. It’s easy to miss the rest when you’ve already let yourself half way in.
I’m glad I entered with my mind set the way I did though. “The business is new to me. This is not more than I can afford to lose. If I do lose it, it will not be replaced and if it generates profit I will still not pay more.” So I can still see it as the loss I had accepted, even though it wasn’t lost the way I’d expected. I lost $250… and I’ve read about people losing $50.000+. I can take it…
I have no hope of seing the money again, but I will still take it to the police. With all the email conversations and recorded phone calls I have (and going to get), I might at least get them added to the Swedish Finance Inspection’s warning list.
