I have a question.....

As I’m sure we all know, scammers often times spoof real phone numbers. For example, I live in Mississippi and a few days ago, I got a call from a tech support scammer, sounded Indian, but the number was from a 601 area code, which is a central MS area code. I asked the scammer where he was, he said New York. But before I continue, I should let y’all know that I knew immediately that it was a tech support scam. I even powered on my VM, let the scammer remote into it and proceed to do his “diagnosis” with the CMD prompt Tree command and everything, wound up wasting about 30 minutes of his time! LOL

Anyway, on to my question..... If a scammer calls you from a spoofed number and you wish to report the scam to authorities, what do you do? Where do you report it? The reason I ask is, I wouldn't want to report someone's legitimate phone number and risk getting an innocent person in trouble, as I'm sure no one would want to do that.

@GoofBall#184636 if it’s spoofed, you don’t. If it isn’t spoofed, do a carrier lookup, and report by looking up [carrier name] report abuse, [carrier name] support, or [carrier name] contact.
