On September 29, 2025, the Colonie Police Department in the Capital Region of New York arrested 43-year-old Huifeng Jin and 34-year-old Qinghua Wang, both from Flushing, Queens, for serving as money mules for an unspecified scam where an elderly male was asked to withdraw $30,000 from their bank account under the guise of a “construction project.”
Police were alerted to the incident by employees from the Community Resource Federal Credit Union at 20 Wade Rd, Latham, NY 12110, who realized that the victim was confused and falling victim to a scam. The two have since been charged with grand larceny in the third degree, though Jin also faces charges of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer (who has sustained a significant injury).
Jin is currently being held at the Albany County Correctional Facility whilst Wang was released under probation.
