Scammers usually hire money mules to receive their fraudulent payments. Luckily, it is very easy to get these accounts reported, sometimes locking them down before a scammer could get their money through, meaning their money gets thrown away!
If you want to be anonymous, you need to get a ProtonMail email (or any other encrypted mail service) and sign up for a VoIP service like textnow.com or voice.google.com (TextNow is sort of sketchy, disable its mic access if you’re not calling someone).
You can also use a voice changer like Voxal if you want to be anonymous when calling banks, although people have varying experiences with voice changing software like Voxal.
The good news, though, is that a lot of banks have dedicated fraud report emails. Here are the contact methods that I use, bank-by-bank:
Fraud report contacts
I will add more to this as I find more.
Bank of America

Phone number: 1-800-432-1000
Wells Fargo
Email: [email protected] (will take a while to be forwarded to fraud investigations and not just phishing emails investigations)
Phone number: 1-800-869-3557
Fidelity Bank
Nigerian bank, I don’t know their phone number but it probably only works in Nigeria

Report tips
This focuses on email, as I don’t report over the phone.
If the email isn’t specifically for reporting an account, then make sure to include in the subject line and/or email body that the email needs to be forwarded to the relevant department.
Make sure to include every possible detail and do your due diligence. Remember, if you falsely accuse someone, you could literally ruin their entire financial history with the bank, and you can get in a lot of trouble. Just like the legal system, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
Here is an example of a report that I’ve sent to Wells Fargo (it is heavily redacted so that the scammer doesn’t destroy evidence):
