As I’m just getting back into the hobby, I had a question come up that maybe someone out there knows the answer to.
Is there an easy way to “weather” a fake victim email account?
Having watched other baiters’ videos, it seems pretty common for scammers to poke around the VM, and some invariably find the email account. I set up a gmail account for a character, but obviously the email box is completely empty, which at least to me would seem like a red flag.
I feel like the easiest way to make an email account look used is to just to go around and sign up for a few mailing lists, but then the issue is that I’ll have a bunch of emails, but all of them are fairly new. (Realistically, it’s probably going to be a solid month before I can start baiting due to family stuff, so it’ll be a month worth of crap, but still…).
Are there any tools out there to create and/or populate an email box, ideally with backdated emails? I thought about setting up my own email server so I could do whatever I wanted on it, but that’s a lot of work, and I really don’t want to work too much harder than the scammer has to, haha.
