Some scammers, on a rare occasion (AKA, If they have more than one brain cell), can tell if you’re using a VM just by looking at your desktop. This is my guide on how to make your VM’s desktop look believable.
Step 1: Hide Guest Additions.
The number one way a scammer can tell if you're using a VM or not is by checking for guest additions. This could be in your tray or anywhere where installed programs are listed. Use this guide for help: replace/d/6096-how-to-hide-your-vm-the-v0dka-way-bonus-activator-included
Step 2: Desktop Icons.
Your icons need to be believable, think to yourself, what does the average person have installed on their computer? Make sure you don't download giant 5 GB files just to make your desktop look normal, all you need is a few simple programs. Here are a few light programs to start out with: Winamp, Limewire, Utorrent, imgburn, Yahoo Messenger, ITunes, WinZip. If you can't think of anything, look on your own desktop! Be sure to add a few rogue antiviruses if ya want, just to show them that you're not an experienced computer user.
Step 3: Wallpaper.
If you're going under a certain personality, it should reflect your wallpaper. Say if you're pretending to be old, have a cat wallpaper or something. Other than that, look for something silly or maybe a wallpaper you've used yourself before. Don't make it completely ridiculous.
Step 4: Browser
Make sure you have at least SOME browsing history, literally anything will work. Have the pop-up open so when they connect to the computer they can see it themselves. Bookmark anything random.
That should be it, thanks for reading and go prank them scammerz.
