How to Hunt Down Scam Numbers

Hey, I’m a beginner Scambaiter and I was wondering how you find scam numbers that aren’t already saved to the site. Do you Google a specific type of scam until you find a phone number, or wait until they come to you? Or something else?
A lot of the ones on here don’t work (I assume that we’ve bullied them until they quit), so i was curious on how to find them myself.

Firstly huge welcome @ShroomiTheShroomcat ! A lot of the time you’ll find them by them sending you a spam message, but you can find them by just searching around and google dorking etc. (I’m very new and still learning this, so other people might be able to give you better info on this).

As for numbers being inactive when you posted, a lot of scammers don’t seem to work over the weekend (just anecdotally), and sometimes they’ll pause the number if we are all wasting too much of their time :joy: / blocking the line for actual victims.

Worth saying, please do not use your personal phone number for any of this this!

Agree with @spaceship on the last line. I personally use TextNow, the ads aren’t super intrusive and don’t interrupt phone calls or anything, and can be accessed from mobile and web. You can call USA and Canada numbers for free, and then watch ads for coins to call other places.
