And most importantly, is it illegal? I assume not as many youtubers get into scam networks to take them down. So how does one do it? I am fairly new to scambaiting but I have experience in coding, so would like to try hacking out.
@CosmoWolf#110378 The usual tactic is to coax/convince the scammer who is remotely connected to your computer, to run a small program (remote access tool, remote access Trojan, etc.) which you send them via the remote desktop software’s file transfer tool. Usually, these are disguised as some banking/money transfer application. However, this method doesn’t really work anymore, and hasn’t for awhile, unless you’re lucky and come across a scammer which has never been exposed to this before (the majority are aware of it already). Please keep in mind though, like you wondered about yourself in your original question, this IS illegal, even though it’s being done to a scammer. Will you get in trouble/reported for it? Most likely not, but it’s certainly something to keep in mind if you ever decide to attempt this. Also, no one here is able to provide you the software used to do this, that is something you’ll have to look into yourself.
Thank you.

@Norm_Harrison#110386 Thank you, very insightful.
@CosmoWolf#110378 “Technically” it’s illegal, but who’s going to report you? In my opinion, the more important question is whether it’s ethical or not. As long as you’re doing it solely to take down the scammers, ie. you’re not going to steal money from them (unless you’re just retrieving what was stolen from someone else to give back). We have to be careful, because for instance, in my opinion, it wouldn’t be ethical to just delete all his files, hack his personal Facebook, etc, unless those things could be used to take him or other scammers down.
