How do scammers get your phone number after you've bought something?

I’ve been trying to figure this out when I got a text message a day after I bought something on Amazon. How could a scammer possibly get my phone number and also somehow know I bought something?

It was a text message telling me I still have to pay shipping costs. I'm asking this here because I can't find it on google.

Some more info: They were pretending to be my local postal service. They were using a phone number from my country.

They SELL your data … So actually give a text now number or 2nd line for your phone. number

. at target they ask for SOCIAL SECURITY number to get a target card … At TARGET … that’s absolute bull shit the lady at Target can get that EASILY and sell it or USE IT !

To be honest it could just have been blind luck. There are so many of these Amazon scams going round at the moment that the odds of receiving a text or email not long after you purchased something from Amazon must be quite high.

@kek150#161283 very unlikely, but maybe they have access to your email or amazon account.

You can check if you if you have an account that has been compromised in a data breach on https://haveibeenpwned.com/

Alright thanks guys, I guess it was just a really big coincidence. The thing is i’ve never bought anything on amazon before and the one time I do I suddenly get a scam message on my phone number that i was forced to give to amazon.nl to place an order.
