I have called this number, and, unfortunately, it links to a normal, unsuspecting person’s phone number rather than a scammer. I told her that it was being used for such purposes and told her to contact her local authorities to see if they can figure out the people using her number like this. I also advised her to change her number; that way, this can be avoided in the future.
Please don't call the number anymore, as whoever the scammer is, is using this without her knowledge.

203 984 7793 does follow the US number format, but is not a US number.
They’ve also been using UK mobile numbers, each victim gets called by a different number each time so it’s hard to pin them down. So keep an eye out for this.
