Guys, We're Doing This All Wrong

I was like all of you at one point, calling these chumps and telling them they were trash, wasting their time to aggravate them, and it was a hell of a lot of fun doing it. But I realized something. These guys may be doing something absolutely shitty to people around the world, but they’re still people. They don’t do these jobs because they like to steal, almost all of them have a family they are trying to support in an overcrowded country with a lot of low income jobs revolved around scamming. I spoke to one gentlemen named Kevin who had children he was trying to feed. I spoke to another and he was taking care of his mom. So I tried something different, I called them up like any other time, when I got ‘Alex’ on the phone, I told him that I hope he found something happy because I dont think this job was making him very happy, I told him I understood he was doing this to make a living. To my surprise, he agreed with me. I was shocked that this man actually had a heart. I then told him that I knew he was capable of doing something good and I hoped that an opportunity would arise for him and his family. He thanked me very much and said he was trying, what struck me as so odd was he almost sounded like he was about to cry because what I said to him moved him. Motivated by this unlikely but pleasant conversation, I called this number a couple dozen times, sharing the same message until I was happy about the impact I made. Almost everyone I spoke to was very happy to hear my kind words and even said they respected me, a handful promised me to find something else, and one woman was literally speechless. These aren’t bad people, they need help and if they could get a new job they sure as hell would. So please take this into account on your next phone call and decide if you want to hurt these people and make them want to steal from us even more because they are now motivated by anger, or just tell them you want them to have a good life. I’ve found my kind attempts to be far more effective, and rewarding. Take care everyone.

I’d like to make it clear, I’m not against the fun of fucking with shitty people, but this method should be given a try sometimes because they may work for a shitty company, but to them it’s just a job.

@Kneegrows#54485 Never thought about it like that…

But take this into perspective:

Yes, they are trying to feed their families but at the same time, they are ruining other gullible people’s lives. I’ve had other friends grandparents get scammed thousands of dollars and my step-aunt had her identity stolen and misused for 8 years from scammers until the cops took her seriously. Most of them can’t quit their job as a scammer, which is not necessarily their fault but still contributes to the major issue of scamming. Again, I’d be beyond thrilled if they decided to take up another job but it’s unlikely.

My impression is that, most scammers don’t see anything wrong with what they’re doing,

its the victims fault for being gullible, not the scammers.

Scamming foreigners is hardly seen as something wrong, in certain parts of the culture.

Your applying your social norms to them, and theirs are quite different, and I'm not talking all of India, just certain cultural areas.

@SM45#54512 I wholehearted agree with you. I have made several trips to big cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore.

So may sick scammers in India say that we in the west are fools and they are clever (they mean they are cunning). Our basic trust in people is taken as being fools by Indian scammers. In Hindi the word “CHALAAK” means both cunning and smart. Scammers make no distinction between these two meanings. I have been scambaiting for 20 months and have seen one proven case of a scammer leaving the scam job.
