@ghowpow#94484 I think your post is troublesome. You provide a call back number but you provide zero details on what the “harassment” was and what the potential scam might be. Sometimes, people simply call the wrong number. You said it was a “random” call…perhaps it was random. I listened to ANgel’s call back and it sounded to me like they were practicing standard privacy protocols. It’s perfectly legitimate for them to request a case number or a contact number for identity verification. I don’t blame them for expressing dismay that people are calling without saying anything. Your presumption shouldn’t be that the number is a scammer. It is our collective responsibility to vet the phone numbers that we call. Why would we want to become harassers to those that are engaged in legitimate calls? I called the number myself and got the same information that Angel did…they wanted a case number or a contact phone number. They didn’t press for personal or financial information.

I don't have any idea if this is a legit number or not, but I would ask that you have some discretion before posting a number that you aren't sure isn't legit. That's not why we're here.

an Indian saying he’s from Dallas, Texas (in Angel’s recording). I think we all know where this goes. There’s no “practising standard privacy protocols”. If they actually wanted to practice, they wouldn’t call real numbers or robo-call people and make up stuff like that.

The “requesting for case number or contact number” is to verify if they actually called that phone number or not. This means that they’re making sure they are talking to the right person whose details are with them so they can proceed with their scam.

@CatSatan#94621 was this indeed a robocall? In that case I would agree all bets are off

@FattyMatty#94623 It has been reported for robo calling. But even a random call would be the same. Like 2 weeks ago I had a random call from a scammer saying my loan for 18k has been approved so they do call normally as well I think.
