How does the scam work?
Welcome to the community, @PooBear!
I just harassed 'em and did not try to bait them. I do not know how Crypto scams work, plus I do not have a virtual machine if the scam requires the criminal to get onto my computer.
I’m on phone now with a guy (16-Mar-2022, Thursday, 5:47 pm Central in USA). I said that I have a problem with Gemini Crypto. He asked what problem. I said that I cannot see how much Crypto currency I have with Gemini. He put me on hold. He came back and asked if I have any other phone number. I said I have only this landline phone number. Then he asked me for my email address, and I started to give him a fake email address but he hung up OR the phone disconnected maybe. I was curious if he would try to get on my computer though again I do not have a virtual machine so I’d have to call him out if he asked to get onto my computer. Maybe these criminals have a FAKE Gemini website and would want a victim to enter the LOGIN info for the real Gemini website.
The link that @Odessy provided when this thread was created goes to a webpage with the (707) 719-0309 number for Gemini that @Odessy posted.
It seems these criminals are impersonating the real Gemini Crypto Exchange.
But there is what I think is the REAL and LEGITIMAGE Gemini website at the URL https://www.gemini.com/
I haven’t done any proper research but from what I can see the Gemini exchanged may have been breached, therefore if there is any database available for sale on the web and they have a copy of it, they would only need you to tell them your email address to cross check it other breached databases. If the scammers have an insider of a mobile phone company they could also perform a simswap. I’m over simplifying it but that’s what it sounds like.
Source of that?
Ok thanks ^^
