Bandwidth.com via Skype, “Harry Harris” falsely claimed my computer came with a free trial to the Geek Squad or a service that was later purchased by the Geek Squad, prompting me to “permanently deactivate” the service by filling out their “cancellation and refund form.”
- The form features a button for me to get a “secure code,” which is actually a hyperlink for me to download ConnectWise from shelp1.org (Code: 88365, 00009, IP: 172.67.158.73
). - I falsely claimed the download was broken, prompting the scammer to threaten to not be able to “suppoat” me, then have me install UltraViewer (ID: 74694672/SECURE) to “connect it to the temporary secure server.”
- Once remotely connected to my virtual machine, “Harry” wanted me to download the “ConnectWise” client, fill out the form and log into my nonexistent Chase account within 3 minutes. I told him off for the broken download, and he called me a “hacker”
