So these guys are just legit companies with bad business models right? Or are they legit scam companies with no business model besides stealing?

Regardless of the legitimacy of these companies:
1. They violate FTC regulations and the Do Not Call List
2. Are linked to other known scams.
3. are seeking bank statements
4. are predatory lenders

If you are unsure a number posted is a scam or not, call and ask questions as if you are a legit customer. Ask them background information about the company. See how fast they hang up, that is an indication of a scam.
