Fun to play with SSA Scam - 272-208-5020

First attempt was a horrible connection and neither party could hear each other. Second attempt was much better and I got a Mr. Edward Gray of the (cough) SSA. I was just verifying the number was a scam, so I didn’t drag him on for too long. He gave me the Case ID, Warrant ID and his Badge ID, then asked me to repeat them to verify I had written them down correctly. Funny how much enjoyment you can get out of messing with someone doing something so stupidly easy. Here is basically what happened next:

SSA: Could you please repeat you case ID?
Me: Sure, CA6931
SSA: No sir, that is you warrant ID, can you repeat me you case ID?
Me: Oh, Ok - SSA2317
SSA: __No__, that is my badge ID - please give me the case ID.
Me: Ok, CA6931
SSA: OMG - No sire, that is the warrant ID.
Me: Oh, my mistake, the warrant ID is CA6845631
SSA: __No, No, No!!!__ That is it case ID, not the warrant ID.
Me: Oh, the warrant ID - that is SSA2317

At this point, he was pretty livid and yelling at me pretty loud. So then I asked him why he was yelling, and what department of the SSA he worked for. That was where it went off the rails:

Me: Sir, what department of the SSA do you work for.
SSA: Are you deaf? I already told you I am with the Social Security Administration.
Me: Yes, but the SSA has many departments - which one do you work in?
SSA: The fraudulent department.
Me: __Fraudulent__ department - you work for a fraudulent department of the SSA?
SSA: No sir, we are the department that investigates fraudulent activity.
Me: So you don't even know the name of your department, but just what it does?
SSA: Yes sir, and I don't even know who I am any more you piece of chit. Go F*#K yourself.
