From "Medicare benefits" to "gift card" malarkey

Additional information about this call: One of the two robocalls I received today was from an unspoofed number, so I just had to call them back after I finished trolling the “agents” who were supposed to connect me to a licensed insurance agent about some upgrade to my Medicare benefits. I don’t think they were Indian, but I couldn’t place their accents. (Hoping I got a good recording of that call.) I think they were just the initial screeners, because the second person I spoke with said she couldn’t find a licensed agent who covered 90210 (okay, I lied about my ZIP code), and that someone would call me back. Np one’s called since, so maybe she figured out that the name I gave wasn’t real, either.
On calling the number back (from a spoofed (314) number), I got a different robovoice, saying something baout a gift card. I pressed 1, and told the guy who answered (he might have been Indian) that I’d been talking to someone about Medicare, but they hung up on me. He said all the Medicare agents were busy, and launched into a script about a $100 gift card.
I said that sounded pretty good, and gave him a fake name and address to send it to. He said there was a small shipping charge ($1.50, I think), and asked for my credit card number. I gave him a fake number, which he quickly found was invalid, and the discussion went downhill from there. He was displeased and hung up on me.
I might give them another call tomorrow, partly out of curiosity over whether the (314) number I used has been blocked.
