This is a first I’ve done along the lines of scambaiting. I genuinely believed they may had done something to my router then. While I can’t prove that, it just seemed too much of a coincidence. Everyone on my friends discord even had the same opinion as me.

And so because of that, I've learnt I must always use a VPN with this software I have, even if there isn't one in the same country as me. Better safe than sorry.
