@Asterisk#74149 damnit. I was gonna say that. But yes, TextNow works fine. I use their service for scambaiting and have received a lot of weird calls recently.

@BlueDino01#74296 Yes it does, but you have to sign up thru the app. The web client doesn’t work for some reason.

@magicallikeapro#74141 idk the specifics of TextNow but if you’re technically inclined And have some free time the best is to have an equal or better phone than the scammers.

I would get a free asterisk PBX server OS image and then install it on a VM or old/extra PC. Lots of free setup/config tutorials and videos online. It is a bit of overhead and you’ll probably have to cough up a $5-20 for SIP trunk service to connect the PBX to the outside world.

But it’s worth it because then you can, Spoof your outbound caller ID to anything as many times you want, Conference call 10+ numbers at once, Record all calls w/o extra software or equipment, no daily limits on calls, etc.
