Additional information about this scam: So got a call on my real number, which of course I didn’t answer. They left a haphazard voicemail that says the following:
Hi this is to inform you that you may be eligible to cancel up to 80 percent outstanding in Student Loans to verify your income and see if you qualify please call 866 913 803 0478. If you are being serviced by Nail Net, Naviet, Great Lakes, Federal Loan Servicing, or Sallie Mae please call us back at 913 803 0478.
I realize the first time they tried to give the number it is too many digits, but this is what the voicemail said. I called the 913 803 0478 and an Indian named “Kevin” answered and went through the standard script. Then he asked for my date of birth, so I gave a fake one and he couldn’t find my nonexistent loans. He then asked for an email, so I gave a fake one, and he couldn’t find the either. He then asked me to answer the FASFA challenge questions provide my full social. I told him I would enter all that in once I got home.
As always, protect your hard earned nonexistent federal student loans at all times.
