Additional information about this scam: One of my elderly clients got the fake Microsoft defender Virus Alert and called the number. They said it would cost her $150 to fix the "problem ". She told them she doesn’t have that much money. They said…OK… $100.
She hung up and called me. I could hear the fake alert in the background. I helped her get rid of it and got the number to report here. I also commended her for calling me! She’s 91 years old!

“Nancy” refused to “suppoat” because I couldn’t read the virus alert.
I called back once more and got a bhenchod who wanted me to use QuickAssist. But since that doesn’t work, I was instead asked to run UltraViewer (ID: 86970975/SUPPORT).
- Once remotely connected to my virtual machine, they refused to “suppoat” as I was using a VM
