I tried calling the scammers. I told them I was “watching movies” and that’s how I got the popup, but instead of trying to scam me, they told me to restart and have a good day. I tried calling again but it said “the phone number is out of service”… strange
@ArjhanToteck#134026 I’ve seen that before. Sometimes they do that when they’re tired of scamming, other times they do that because they know they’ve been caught. As soon as a number gets posted here, the call volume spikes. Its a pretty good measurement for them to know that theyve been called out. They’ll only handle so many scam baiters before getting pissed and swapping numbers.

The number you are trying to reach is no longer in service ![]()
@Otis#134030 Good. Looks like they realized we were on to them. Arjhan got a successful call as did I.

I think i got him at the tail end of existence… the guy answered and you could tell his VoIP line was being hammered and breaking up pretty bad. He yelled “What do you want?” Told him I had some message pop up on my computer and to call that number, blah, blah, blah… by that point, he was breaking up pretty bad and really hard to understand. I think he was asking me what my name was or something, but I could only hear a fragment or two of what he was saying. I finally heard something like “I’m not going to ask you again …” and then the line dropped. I think I witnessed his last gasp in real time ![]()
That makes me happy @Otis#134033 ![]()
For what it is worth, the line is still active and they are still picking up. The guy sounds emotionally drained.
@reportingscammers007#134036 Go figure… it sure is. I got a chance to try out my new Windows XP virtual machine… seems like anydesk and others aren’t too fond of it for some reason! And I agree, the guy sounds like he’s been rode pretty hard and hung up wet - certainly wasn’t very energetic about the whole thing.
Called and literally went through with the questions till I said where I was calling from then he hung up. Tried calling again and they tore the number down.
Methinks this scammer is pissed still from you all.
@Emeraldsniper#134045 I noticed this guy was pretty picky about who I was and where I was calling from - saying that he had to verify that I was who I said I was. He asked me to verify the phone number, and then give him my zip code, apparently to see if the area code matched (I said I was on my home phone, not a cell). He kept telling me to hold on for a minute, and I could hear him typing stuff on the computer each time.
That is eventually what bit me. I thought I was using an unassigned CID. But just as he was trying to connect to my anydesk client, something happened and the phone connection dropped. I called back, but when I did, he said he called me and got some business, and I had told him it was my home number, so "WTF?". I tried to play it off like he called the wrong number, but he was on to me by then. He insisted that he wouldn't go any further until he verified me, and would call me back (on that number) within the next 5 minutes. Bummer. And I checked - sure enough, someone had been assigned that previously unassigned number and it was dropping into the voice mail for some company.
They are also call blocking you after you disconnect with them. So while it seems the line is down, it actually isnt. You just need a new number.
@reportingscammers007#134062 I change the number every time they hang up from me. So when I did, the new number never went through.
