Additional information about this scam: Doing Scam on name of NEtgear . When we call them they directly says Netgear Support.
Bandwidth.com via Skype, scammer wanted me to unplug the ethernet cable from my router and plug it into my computer before falsely claiming “15 hackers” were on my network and IP address.
- I was asked to “reconnect to the wifi” and change the password before the call was dropped, preventing me from being charged $99.99 on a “one-year firewall plan.”
- Subsequent calls to the number presented a 2-ring busy line.
