They change numbers like they were dirty diapers, but they reuse them.

@MKHNT#132294 Made fun of grannies voice and told her she had the wrong number. I think they are starting to get tired of playing

I said im having problems with my Computer and they hung up.

They know they are a target of scambaiting and are cautious as not to get caught. Last time I tried, you had to “subscribe” to their service before they will talk to you. They have made a claim that “scammers are using their name” and convinced the BBB enough that they posted an Alert on their BBB page.

@MKHNT#132372 Called the dweeb up and asked if I was speaking with MC Helper aka “My Computer Helper”. He hessitated and asked what I wanted. The address for them is in Gainesville, FL, so I told him that I lived in Alachua - about 1/2 hour NW of there. Said I drove into town with my computer and there was nobody there, not even a mention of the company name. He said of course we are here, I’m sitting in the office right now - you must have the wrong address. When I gave him the address off the web site, he said that was the “OLD” web site. I asked him for the new URL and he refused to give it to me saying - I don’t know you, why should I give you the website address? Doh! Not the smartest pencil that one. Then I asked if he was even in gainesville and he refused to answer. When I asked about the address again, he said of course nobody was there - everyone is out due to the virus. “But you just said you were in the office working!!!”. “No, I meant I’m working from home”.

So after "learning" that I wanted my computer fixed, he said he would transfer me to a tech. Put me on hold for a couple minutes, then the line dropped.

I'm reporting them to the BBB just for good measure :)

PS: Number on their web site is 1-888-995-5185 however I get an error trying to dial it

A little more digging leaves me thinking that M C Helper is indeed a real company in Gainesville, and that scammers have taken their logo and are pretending to he them. The real M C Helper web site does list a valid address in Gainesville, and doing a little more searching, was started in 2012, the same time that the president of the company bought a house in Gainesville. The Alert on the BBB page is quite possibly valid and they have been targeted by scammers just for having a cool name/logo.

@Otis#132383 i tried to call them and it answered but he hung up after I said I have a virus.

@Otis#132387 that M C Helper is indeed a real company in Gainesville, and thats cammers have taken their logo and are pretending to he them.

Yes it is a real company, but many scammers operate behind a legitimate company to hide their scamming income. That is how they launder it, how else could they explain where all the money comes from?
Don't be fooled by their trickery of being duped by scammers, as I have found phone numbers used in scamming that linked right back to them. The big companies that have been well established are not immune to the taste of scam money and hide their scamming by utilizing such claims to make people think they are innocent. I almost believed it too, until I came across an "activation" website designed to capture account info and licenses. The phone number it posted after an activation was one that was on one of MC Helpers websites they forgot to remove. It is still on them, but the activation phishing website is now suspended.
