Fake Medical Plea for Help? | Advice Needed

Brenda Luke [email protected]

Dear Sir/Ma,

My name is Brenda Luke.I am writing to ask for your kind help to save
my Father’s life. .18th June this year, my 68-year-old father was
diagnosed as having serious congenital heart diseases (single
ventricle, transposition of great arteries and pulmonary
hypertension). The diagnosing doctors told me that my Father’s diseases
were highly rare,complex and dangerous.

I am trying to seek possible help, which seems to be the only
opportunity for me to save my Father. Our economic situation in
Johannesburg is very poor and we cannot afford the high medical
expenses. Please any possible financial support will be highly
appreciated.

We are very distressed by this news and my family is tensed because we
cannot afford the money for the necessary tests and treatment.Doctors
say that his life is restrained for a short time. Now i am trying to
raise funds from known and unknown people so that i can help my father
and save his life. Please i am pleading for your financial assistance.

Your kind support will be highly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Brenda Luke

I’m not entirely sure what to make of this, this is the first time that I have gotten such an email. What do you all make of it? Scam or genuine?

It could be genuine, but scammers do like to make stories similar to this, such as the dying widow story in order to appeal to emotion. I personally wouldn’t trust it. Better safe than sorry.

Got the same email!

I’m definitely sure it’s fake. Only scammers have this email, as it’s been made available on Mugu countless times. It’s a gmail account, spelling - everything else! I’ve received SIMILAR emails before.

Plus @Chronus , how can you verify it anyway? Even if hypothetically you had them email an attachment that looked like medical paperwork, how could you know it is real and not fake?

This email is being sent to more people than you. How does this sender of the email who is supposedly “Brenda Luke” know your email address and the email addresses of others?

Personally I would not trust it either.
