I received a Facebook friend request from a mutual and about an hour later they sent me a message. This was the chain below; I redacted my name as well as the person’s name as the person themselves had their account hacked/compromised and I don’t want to send any hate their way.
This “Stephen Hobart” guy rang red flags, especially since when I went to their profile they were the only person they followed as well as some wall posts from friends stating they got some strange messages from this same person going all the way back to January. As you can see, I tried to grabify them but it appears that they saw this coming and are either using a proxy or VPN, but they did click on the link.
I don’t have a burner Facebook account to use to continue this any further so if you want to go down this rabbit hole, be my guest. I do intend to report the account for impersonation as well as phishing but I figured I’d let you guys take a crack at them first.
