Additional information about this scam:

This came on my client’s MacBook! He called ME for help. I explained the whole scam and got rid of it. Then I called the scammers to thank them for providing work for me. lol. Scammer said they’re sending the sheriffs to my doorstep to arrest me for abuse.

Carrier: 800TollFreeNow

Scammer answers as “Microsoft Customer Suppoat (I presume they’ll also answer as Apple or falsely claim it’s a part of Microsoft)” and falsely claims an “attempt of hacking” took place within the past 48 hours. He was too deaf to provide “suppoat,” so I called back and had a separate bhenchod ask me to stop dialing their number.

  • I called back once more, and “James William” proceeded with the “attempt of hacking” script before asking me to “install Microsoft temporary security” by transferring the call to his “senior officer” and installing UltraViewer (ID: 76957509/MICROSOFT TECHNICAL) to “connect to the Microsoft Secure Server.”

  • Once remotely connected to my virtual machine, the “senior officer” asked me to run the “tree” command to “scan my IP address” before falsely claiming my IP was hacked.
  • As my IP was “hacked,” I was asked to go to whatismyipaddress.com. I weaseled my way out of revealing my IP address, so the bhenchod asked me to run the “netstat” and “dir/s” commands before he generated a “final report,” which falsely claims the “Chinese hackers” made AN ILLEGAL SUBSCRIPTION TO CHILD PORNOGRAPHY FROM PORNHUB with a trojan virus.
  • As this was a “case of identity theft,” the case was transferred to the “Federal Trade Commission Office” while I was asked to give them the number to my nonexistent bank. I told him that my bank was closed for the night, so he transferred the call to a coworker who posed as a “FTC Senior Officer”
  • The “Officer” asked for my full name, address, email, TextNow number and THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER before he ran a “background check on my identity,” which he falsely claimed was red flagged as it was tied to two houses in Texas, which were monitored by U.S. Marshalls on charges of laundering money to Mexico and Colombia.
  • As the scam now fully progressed to a Social Security scam, the “officer” became too deaf to provide “suppoat.”
