Hello,
so I've spent the entire week preparing my first ever attempt at scambaiting. I created a stealthy virtual machine running Windows XP, and spent days and nights writing a legit virus (which would infect my virtual machine only, not the scammer's PC), and created a website for it, including a real scammer phone number (tried phone numbers from other websites first, then I came across this one) just to see them fail at fixing the actual malware. Or so I thought, because I replaced the phone number many times after no one picked up. When someone finally picked up and I asked if I'm talking to [fake company name], she just said "no", I said that their phone number is on the website, and she hang up. I called the same number again, someone else (I think) picked up, she didn't understand me at first, then I said the same thing again, and she hung up. Tried a few other numbers after that, no one picked up.
So why did the scammer ladies hang up? Is it because my website was not actually created by them? Is it my stuttering? My pronunciation (people in real life tell me my English is great though)? Is it that I sound very young (I'm 20)? Is it because my phone number (which is not registered with my name) is located in Germany?
Here you can listen to both calls (my voice sucks, be warned). Feedback on how I can do better is greatly appreciated
