Additional information about this scam:
So, here is the whole story: Was on a facebook page called “Kia parts and accessories” looking for various car parts. Messages the facebook page and got an immediate response. I wanted some small car parts that only cost a couple hundred dollars, but he quickly kept asking if I need even more parts. He said he had a rare set of Brembo brakes that I’ve been looking for forever. No photos of the parts taken off the car. Just pictures of the car. I’ve bought from some pretty sketch places before on facebook, but this one takes the cake. Zelled this guy “Markus Ambrose” $1150 for all the parts I need (to the phone number above), which was a mistake. He immediately asked for insurance on the package which was $450. I Zelled him that totaling $1550. The next day he calls me and says the package is on hold. Sends me shipping info via worldwidelogistc which is obviously a scam site. Stupid of me to Zelle him before getting pictures. Anyways, the shipping company texts me and asks for another $800 insurance deposit. At this point I knew I was screwed. I tried to grab the guys IP address, but he is too smart. He used a VPN. Anyways, if anyone wants to bully/expose this guy for fun, go for it! The guy sounds like he is from another country but might be located in the United States. I failed at baiting him.
Any suggestions on how I can get him to click on an IP grabber? It seems like there are so many tools that have been deprecated, its hard to find one that creates links that are sendable on iOS and Facebook.
