Extended warranty scam

So I just got a scam call from the extended warranty folks. For one thing I gave them a vehicle with over 100,000 miles on it and when I started to spell my fake name using the military alphabet, the broken English is clearly not my first language dude went a-wall.

This was not an Indian voice, sounded more like a Nigerian. What makes things really interesting, at least because it’s the first I’ve seen, the number that came up is a real phone number. It is for a nursing home in a real place in the state I reside in.

Clearly they knew I which state I was in, when I called back and they answered as a nursing home I immediately googled and got the address and website they gave to come up. I did tell them scammers were using their number. I think I’ve heard you guys call this spoofing.

Didn’t really know where to post this, or what to do with the info, so here it is. Happy hunting.

@Scamtheman86#120614 Yes this would be call spoofing. Why they’d pick a number that belongs to a nursing home makes zero sense. What you can do is private or direct message one of the staff here or on Discord with a bit more info for us to investigate further potentially.

It is possible to get a call back number if they are call spoofing. Just say you have to take your dog outside or something and you will have to call them back in 10 minutes. They will usually give you a number to contact them on.

@LolaBohemia#120630 Honestly I have no idea who is staff and who isn’t. Also the only other info I could really provide is the state I’m in and the nursing home. Though thanks for the info. I agree a nursing home is peculiar. I’m just starting to go down this whole rabbit hole…
