“Stacy” introduced herself to be on a dating site. After a week of exchanged pics, she came up with the story of being attacked and having her credit cards and purse stolen and asked if I could help her with $500. She also told me that she was collecting her father’s inheritance which was a fortune and provided me with a screenshot of the pending transactions and picture of the inheritance tax papers. I instantly felt red flags.
I had given Stacy a few small amount of funds a couple times in about 2 months, then I stopped. We got in a fight because of my doubts and her expectations for freehand outs. She told me goodbye.
With a new number, I texted her from another app. “Stacy” thought I was someone named “Emily”. Stacy revealed that she was now “Chris Young” and he/she was madly in love with Emily, even after she was previously scammed by Chris. I was pretending to be Emily long enough to expose the betrayal and truth. There’s no way this scammer can deny their own wrongdoing. I was dealing with a psychopath the whole time.
