On October 7, 2025, the Enforcement Directorate in India conducted raids at 16 different “fake” call centers across Delhi, Noida and Gurugram based upon multiple FIRs registered by Delhi Police against Karan Verma and his associates under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The investigation uncovered that a group of fake call centers in Rohini, Paschim Vihar and Rajouri Garden in New Delhi were used to defraud Americans and Europeans with common technical support scams under the guise of Microsoft, Apple, Charles Schwab and local police. The victims were asked to purchase gift cards or convert their savings into gold bars.
