Scammer sent me a letter in the mail similar to the one posted below, claiming that the property’s home warranty “may be expiring or may have already expired” and urge the homeowner to call them within 5 days before they reserve the right to “revoke” your eligibility.
While the company is listed as “Home Warranty Division” on the letter, they refer to themselves as “Oasis Home Protection, LLC” over the phone. According to Bizapedia, the company was registered by John T. Shaw, a real estate attorney who previously worked with funeral directors to develop and implement a succession or exit plan, on April 4, 2022.
Upon calling the company, you will have to provide a specific “customer ID” listed on the top of your letter. They will try to sell you a new home warranty policy using public information obtained through platforms like Zillow, which in my case was $75 down & $4,502 in full for “up to $30,000 in coverage.”
They also claim to be Omega Home and Auto, a BBB-Accredited business with an A+ rating and several complaints about cold-calling schemes with other companies to sell home warranties.
