ive created a mega shared folder with a buncha documents to fill up a bait vm. documents, music, sounds, pictures, photos, videos, programs, all of questionable content/quality, none with sensitive information. i’ll add more files over time if people find this useful

UPDATE: i also added a little ‘guides’ section, where i plan to put pdf guides on little bits and pieces for setting up a scambaiting vm. i just now wrote a little one about changing the install date on / removing program entries from the “Installed programs/apps” sections on Control Panel and PC Settings respectively. hope this helps anyone!
This is great, exactly what I was looking for. I’m currently setting up my first VM, I have pretty much every thing set up, I just needed some realistic looking files.

@mango_#140521 I want to play the role of someone completely tech illiterate. In terms of files pretty much anything that a normal user would have on their pc is good, so mostly media and documents.
I also wrote myself a python script that randomized file creation, modification and access dates.
It works, but I want to do some more testing before I share it.

One thing you might wanna add, is, that you can change the install date for programs that don’t have the “InstallDate” String, like VLC for example, by just creating the “InstallDate” String and entering the date.

Thanks mango, setting up a new VM now, will certainly take a look at your contribution
just to clarify, im uploading all of these media files for you to creatively put them into your own folders with different names / subfolders. i’m only splitting them up by file type, and with the exception of the Documents folder, no subfolders are provided since we don’t want all vms looking the same. Make sure to only use some of these files, not all!
also a priority is compressing these files down to fit on small vm drives. so thats why things may not look pretty. thanks for understanding

i’m busy at work updating this repository with a bunch of friends - namely the fake documents/desktop icons and we are also in the process of making some joke software that i will detail in a future post, it’s all going in the same shared mega.io folder
