On December 22, 2025, police in Morris County, New Jersey arrested 56-year-old Donald Johnson, Jr. for serving as a money mule for a Publishers Clearing House scam, where:
- The scammer will call his victim, in this case a 72-year-old woman from Van Buren County, Michigan, to falsely claim they won $5.5 million in a PCH sweepstakes.
- In order to receive their nonexistent winnings, the victim will be asked to mail over $200,000 to multiple addresses in order to cover taxes.
- Nearly half of the money sent will go towards Johnson.
Johnson was extradited to Michigan for a December 23 arraignment on felony charges of making false pretenses. He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond at the Van Buren County Jail
