Deroney Facey, Hurane Martin ARRESTED for facilitating "mega millions" SCAM

UPDATE: A co-conspirator was just arrested in association with Facey’s fraud scheme, scroll down for details.

On January 16, 2026, the Orlando Police Department in Florida and agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security arrested 38-year-old Jamaican national Deroney A. Facey after he was indicted by a federal grand jury for facilitating a lottery scam, where

  • Facey would send fraudulent letters to victims, falsely claiming they had won a $250 million jackpot from the Mega Millions sweepstakes.
  • When they called the designated number in order to claim their “winnings,” the victims were asked to cover roughly $83,000 in “taxes.”

Facey was indicted following an investigation from the Graves County Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky on November 21, 2025 and is currently held on a $100,000 cash bond awaiting extradition to Kentucky on charges of

  • engaging in organized crime
  • theft by unlawful taking over $10,000
  • securities fraud over $10,000
  • operation of a sham or front company.

UPDATE: The Graves County Sheriff’s Office just arrested Montego Bay, Jamaica resident Hurane Courtney Martin in connection with Deroney’s fraud scheme after Martin had flown into the Fort Lauderdale International Airport on January 22, 2026 as a visitor for pleasure with a valid nonimmigrant visitor visa.

Martin had an active arrest warrant, as he was found to have held the account where the victims deposited funds into. He is currently being held in the Broward County Jail on charges of

  • Engaging in organized crime
  • Theft by unlawful taking over $10,000.
