On December 17, 2025, police in New Delhi, India raided an apartment in Gujarawala for serving as an illegal call center to facilitate technical support scams against American nationals, where:
- The scammers operated toll-free numbers through MicroSIP and posed as technical support representatives to gain confidence from their victims.
- Once remotely connected to their victims’ device through ConnectWise, the scammers will falsely claim the devices were “infected” and that the victims’ bank accounts were at risk.
- The call will then be transferred to a coworker posing as a representative of the victims’ bank to trick the victim into converting their savings into Bitcoin under the guise of “securing” their funds.
Seven bhenchods were arrested during the raid, with police seizing seven laptops and several mobile phones
