Falsely Claims:
- Their “suppoat” line is a toll-free number, despite 970 being a Colorado area code.
- McAfee is a branch of PayPal
- Purchase of McAfee from PayPal
- I was “shouting” when I was using my normal speaking voice.
- I was using a smartphone.
- ConnectWise is their “robotic system”
Remote Access Software: QuickAssist (Code: GRZUP5/macfee h.) and ConnectWise from livemip.top (Code: 11770)
Once remotely connected to my virtual machine, the incredibly-invasive “William” proceeded to download ConnectWise from livemip.top before having me fill out a “McAfee cancellation and refund form” and asking me to log into my nonexistent bank account.
- But since I don’t do online banking, I was repeatedly asked to search for my bank on Google before the call gets transferred to his manager, the “supervisor on the floor,” who asked for me to search for my bank on Google, even to the point of locking my controls to try and search for it.
- I was then asked to set up a crypto wallet or log into an online shopping account before being asked to withdraw $3,000 from my bank account and send them a photo of the cash, so I used this as an opportunity to send them a Grabify link to youareanidiot.cc
- I was then asked to re-deposit the money to my nonexistent bank account by purchasing Apple gift cards from a nearby CVS or Walgreens or going to a nearby Bitcoin ATM
