@MQ9#146249 Possibly the worst phone setup I’ve heard yet… really hard to hear because of such low volume, and throw in an accent and it’s almost impossible.
Anyway, got some dude who didn't even bother screening me before passing off to the DEA officer, Mr. David Williams (189642). My case number was the more than overused DC7010. He started in on how my SSN had been used for suspicious activity, and how we were on a federally recorded line that will be used as evidence in a court of law. I asked "Wait, you mean this recording will be used as evidence and you didn't even read me my Miranda rights?". He just kind of mumbled, so I asked him again why he wasn't reading me my Miranda rights if this was being used as evidence. He said it was "In order to expedite the matter". I asked if he was SSA, and he said no, he was DEA. Then I asked him if he was a law enforcement officer and he said he was. So then I just said, well then you are fake... no LEO would use a suspects statements without first reading them their rights... you are fake, and I believe you are just one of those sleaze bag scammers. He kept up the act, saying he was not fake, and that if I didn't cooperate then he would have to have me arrested. The usual jovial banter pursued from there with a few choice insults flung in for good measure, along with the waiting for them with milk and cookies which is sort of obligatory at that point. He wasn't a happy camper and hung up. Due to poor equipment, I'd rate this one a 3 out of 10. Well, maybe bump it up to a 4-5 just because they are active on a Saturday ;)

Recent attempt wanted full SSN - flipped him off, then the phone rang and it was a zero percent credit card scammer. Oh my.
