Until the staff team can talk to this company ourselves, the post will be removed. Most debt collectors have legitimate reasons for calling you and are legally allowed to do so.

@vbhdfnb#85658 These were Indians as I heard them speak in Hindi to each other. Many of these scammers spoof real numbers.

It’s not unheard-of for scammers to masquerade as other intense robocallers like Midland Credit or Portfolio Recovery, or the in-house collections at any number of well known banks and debt collectors.

Care has to be exercised because these scammers often try to masquerade as the real-deal very effectively, like putting on the real company's caller ID on the call.

This type of spoofing trips up a LOT of people and it also confuses the legit company as well, because the victim of the scam will contact the real company and tell them what # called them and the bank will confirm it was them. Bank and debt collector #s being spoofed are getting to be more common now.

Honestly if you want to see the FCC shove STIR/SHAKEN certificates down the throats of the entire telecom industry and enhancements to further reveal the true origination of where a phone call came from, I could not think of a better way to get the telecom industry to implement it than spoofing the phone #s of the biggest lobby that spends millions of dollars a year lobbying the FCC and congress to protect their own robodialing: debt collection agencies.
