But speaking of the CL cashier check scam - I've actually had success a few times getting them to __send me cash__... by FedEx overnight no less! And here is the kicker - they sent it to the local State Attorneys office, __check fraud division__! Some of them are about as smart as a sack of rocks!
@Otis#137686 Me too. Today in fact some guy wanted to buy a table that I am not selling. He was going to bring me $600 to Texas from California. RIght. So I sell him a table and he gives me a cashiers check on a Friday and he takes the table and the check is bad.
If we can get Craigslist scammers to think many scambaiters are real victims, we can waste their money on shipping.
But this could be difficult. Most people aren’t comfortable with giving their home address to a scammer, and, a mail forwarding service could also be costly.
The scammers I have run into (several) Fed Ex you a fake cashier’s check, then they try to get you to do remote deposit, then wire funds to their “movers”. No one ever shows up in person. I have several fake checks, just to waste their time and money, but they are like fleas (all over the place). The scammers also seem to use people in the US to print the checks from their homes and do the actual mailing. My understanding is that the people in the US think they are doing some sort of remote work, ultimately being scammed as well.
@iScam#137674 Is there software to flood their phones and emails with texts and emails? These scammers are so annoying. Or any other ideas on what to do? Thanks.
