Hi, i just joined the forum today after researching how to report scammers. the story is that i posted a listing on craigslist for an iPhone i’m selling, and within 10 minutes, i immediately started getting some emails asking to buy it. all of the emails arrived around the same time. So, i got pissed after accidentally giving my address to one guy (what to do now? please help?) … then i noticed his grammar was odd, so i did some googling and quickly figured out what was going on!
the emails all go something along the lines of “i want the item [insert item name] and i am willing to add an extra $[_] if you will hold it for me. My life is busy, so i can’t pick it up. give me your info so my husband can send a cashiers check?”
SO… here are these people.
Name: “Karen Lisa” (2 first names lol?) [email protected]
I asked where is she from, and she said: Sorry, I just took my time to explain how it would go because I’m a
very busy person.
Clearly these people aren’t about to tell me anything personal!
Next person: “Fernandez Shelia” [email protected]
-A similar situation occurred here.
Next person: “malcolm marsal” [email protected] AND [email protected]
Next person: “Luke Greg” (another person with a creative choice of names!) [email protected]
This guy also replied with the same email as malcolm marsal: [email protected]
~Seems fishy~
Let me see if i can get any further info out of them, and i will follow up.

Update! i just tried to send a message to [email protected] and apparently gmail has disabled it! idk about the other emails, at this point it’s saying they have been delivered successfully to those.
I just had a reply from ‘Luke Greg’ from 702-308-3104, asking me to reply directly to his ‘personal’ email ([email protected]). When I sent him a reply, I got this message:
"Thanks for your reply, sorry the first email was for my friend that help me to make inquiry as i am new to craigslist.what will you like to tell me about it? and will you mind sending me pictures of it ? I am quite comfortable with the condition of it and if you dont mind me adding extra $50 plus the price to beat all other offers and hold it for me as it will take like 2 days for the payment to get to you since Check,is the only mode of payment available to me right now and my mover will only come over for pick up when you notify me that the check has been verified and cleared by your bank so I am going to be needing 1 : Your full name 2 : Physical Address (Only,not po box) 3 : Listed price 4 : Mobile number
Thanks and I hope we handle this in good faith while waiting to hearing from you"
I marked this as 'Spam' and won't be responding to them, but I also wanted to let people know that the scammers are getting around being flagged as a scam in Craigslist by having you contact them directly. Fortunately, there are websites like this one that DO let people know what these lowlifes are up to!
