My sister had found an ad for a house on craigslist…my wife and I checked it out. She found the real ad for the hiuse on zillow, so I knew the craigslist one was a scam. I decided to check it out and after 3 attempted calls, the guy texted me and it went from there. He wanted application fees for the house and asked if I had cash app or zelle. When I informed him that I didn’t, he asked if there was a walmart clise to me…it went on like this for a bit and when I told him I was at walmart, he called me (I’m guessing to see if I was real). When he called I heard a very thick African accent…I told him it was hard to hear in there, and asked him if he could text the info ( I didn’t want him to find out that I wasn’t at walmart if he didn’t hear any noise). He agreed and texted me that I had to buy steam cards…well, it went on and after wasting 4 and a half hours of his time, I emailed him a link which he thought was steam gift card codes. It was actually a pic of my hand flipping him the bird with some text calling him out on his scam. The link gave me some info on him It showed he was using a vpn. It said Decaucus, which is in New Jersey, yet his time was 11.13 pm and hus time zone was Africa…Obviously he’s not very good at scamming, because his ip said New Jersey, his phone numbet said Louisianna, and the house is in Kansas.
