I'm from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. I'm doing research into the ethics of computer fraud and scam baiting.
I'm looking for anyone willing to have discussions on scam baiting and why they do it and what they know about the scammers they scam bait. I want to know why you scam bait. What you do. And whether you believe your effort has any impact.
I'm willing to have these discussion public or have them private it through email. Names and users name will be redacted if requested. If you would like to have a private discussion feel free to email: [email protected]
If this kind of post on here is not allowed by all means I will remove it or admins/mods feel free to remove it. I understand.
Thank you for reading, looking forward to some discussions.
Hi I to a fellow scambaiter … I feel it’s necessary to do this because we need to somehow protect people who are potential victims of a scam that could ruin their lives and give money to absolute bottom feeders of the human race … I myself called FBI fraud department AARP fraud dept AT&T fraud dept … Nothin … So leave it up to US as a scambaiter family to protect those who can’t protect themselves by flooding them out constantly all day every day!! That’s my oath anyways😊
very interesting topic. I've thought about writing my bachelor thesis about this as well but I had to choose a different topic. Still I can provide you with lots of information as well as scientific papers regarding that topic and one of my friends is writing his master thesis about machine learning / AI and detecting fake popups.
I run a YouTube channel where I deep-dive into scam call centers and expose them, including how they work, their economics and much more. When doing the research I befriended quite many (ex-) scammers who I also visited in India and stayed in contact with so I can also tell you lots of stuff about their motivations, how their life is and how India in general is.
