Looking for advice to find out if this is a scam that’s happened before and what the possible outcome is for the victim. In short, someone very close to me met someone on social media. This person said they could make them some money. All they had to do was to purchase, seven phone contracts across various providers and three MacBooks across other providers. They said that they would cancel the contracts and pay them off. They just needed the goods and can make lots of money for my friend. My friend purchased them all and took out the contracts mostly over 3 to 4 years , so now is liable for the contracts but handed over all 10 products to this person for exchange of £300 . And said my friend would get the rest of the money once they are sold. Obviously it’s come to light that this was a lie and they fell for it. They also handed over their card details to this scam person to buy ‘crypto’ To make my friend more money, they wiped out their account
