Typical $299 being charged for your computer security software. I asked the guy, since I didn’t remember, what company it was he worked for. “The Computer Department” was his reply. “Computer Department? Computer department for what company?”… A slight pause, then “Your computer company sir”. OMG. Ok, so lets try something different… since my CID is unlisted, I said “I’ve never heard of ‘my computer company’… that sounds suspicious. Let me ask, what name was the $299 charged under?”. He said “Let me checkit” and the line went silent for about a minute. Now, most scammers who have half a clue would just hang up at this ponit - but not this genious… he actually got back on the phone and said that he couldn’t find my records right now because he was having problems with his computer!
I laughed a bit, noting the irony about how he is supposedly a computer company who can't seem to get his computer working - and that maybe they forgot to update their security software for $299. Then I asked how many people really fall for this crap, as it really is pretty lame and he certainly doesn't sound like he has a clue as to what he is doing. Click.
