Could not even give me the name of their website. She said tax relief support. No such thing. I read off all the websites and she said Oh, that one! Sure, lady. She called me back from an Ontario, Canada number. I asked why a Canadian number and she said they were in San Jose.
Iristel line, callers are asked to press 1 about the “IRS Fresh Start Program” before the call gets transferred to a “specialist” who previously blocked my Google Voice line. The “specialist” works for Clear Start Tax, a fraudulent tax consultancy firm that operates out of 5 Park Plaza Suite 800, Irvine, California 92614.
User complaints on Google and their BBB listing indicate patterns of fraudulent behavior, including:
- Charging customers for a service that doesn’t involve eliminating their existing debts to the IRS.
- Demanding upfront payments and demanding more money from customers over the phone.
- Having pushy salesmen answer the calls in what is believed to be a Ponzi scheme.
- Taking money from customers without prior consent.
The company has also been recently sued for violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) in the Western District of Texas. A summons was received on June 19, 2024, and they have to respond by July 10.

The post has been renamed after having identified the American brokers responsible for making these fraudulent cold calls. Here’s a Lenny bait I did for good measure.
