On January 13, 2025, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada arrested 33-year-old Rowland Heights resident Cindy Yaohua Gou and 29-year-old San Gabriel resident Zhu Ping Ge for serving as money mules for an Indian refund scam that started out with an email falsely claiming the victim signed up for a subscription that was auto-renewed. The two were set to pick up $18,000 from a 79-year-old woman, but are now held on $45,000 bails after picking up felony charges, which they will be tried for sometime today.
