Additional information about this scam: This attempts to spoof CIBC Costco Mastercard members out of information. The call starts with a robotic message stating that this is CIBC Mastercard for Costco members (which is real as I have such a membership/card) advising that your account is locked down due to a suspicious travel charge of $530.00 and that the account is blocked.
Here’s the twist: It asks you to hang up and call them back. I ended up calling to double-check with the actual CIBC group number on the back of my card and they advised me that scammers have been doing this for various other memberships as well.
I ended up calling the fake number back and it gives you an IVR listing. The receiver picked up and identified himself as Mark Jacobs with CIBC Mastercard.
843 748 1288 Costco MasterCard would not pick but received text to call george at orange as my apple id was used and 198.95 was put on account he said he does like being harassed and then being abused .
These pricks were active a few hours overnight until a really ugly old piece of shit kept calling them repeatedly. Some people have no manners or decorum at all
They started up again early this morning
